Agromediterranean Faculty of the University of Split participated in the 27th International Olive Growers and Olive Oil Producers Manifestation Noćnjak 2026, held in Dubrovnik from March 26 to 29, 2026.
As part of the programme, a round table organized by the Faculty was held on March 27 under the title “Application of Digital Technologies in Olive Growing”, bringing together experts and participants interested in modern approaches to olive production.
The round table was opened and moderated by Assoc. Prof. Josip Gugić, who delivered a lecture entitled “Digital Transformation and the Use of Digital Tools in Olive Growing”, emphasizing the importance of digitalization as a foundation for the modern and sustainable development of the sector.
The programme continued with several thematic presentations. A lecture entitled “Digital Systems for Pest Monitoring in Agriculture” was delivered by Ivan Tavra, MSc in Chemical Engineering, presenting modern approaches to pest monitoring and their application in precision olive protection. Prof.dr.sc. Vladan Papić from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture delivered a lecture entitled “Application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Artificial Intelligence in Fruit Detection and Olive Yield Estimation”, highlighting the potential of new technologies in production analysis and management.
Within the round table, a presentation entitled “Digital Research”, related to the activities of the institutional project Nu3Med, was delivered by Assist. Prof. Tatjana Klepo. The presentation showcased contemporary approaches to the application of digital tools and technologies in the study of Mediterranean plant species, with a focus on their role in data collection, processing, and interpretation.
The round table attracted considerable interest from participants, and the discussion that followed was dynamic and informative, featuring numerous insightful questions and an exchange of experiences between the scientific and professional communities.
By participating in this international event, the Faculty further confirmed its active role in presenting scientific research activities and strengthening cooperation with the professional and wider public, particularly in the field of digitalization and innovation in olive growing.
