Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree study Mediterranean Agriculture

The University of Split's Mediterranean Agriculture undergraduate Bachelor’s degree study programme was established in 2019, when the first generation of students was enrolled. At the 10th session on April 30, 2019, the Senate of the University of Split adopted the Decision on the establishment of the Mediterranean Agriculture undergraduate study programme, and on June 5, 2019, the Ministry of Science and Education registered the proposed study programme in the Register of Study Programmes. The University of Split has acquired the right to implement it. The study programme will be conducted in various locations in the Split area and in certain teaching bases in Split-Dalmatia County. The focus of the study programme is on the specific agro-ecological conditions of the Mediterranean and agricultural plant production in this area: viticulture, Mediterranean fruit growing, olive growing, vegetable growing, cultivation of ornamental, aromatic and medicinal plants. The study programme also includes agricultural economics, safety and quality of agricultural products and food, and landscape design.
The implementation of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Mediterranean Agriculture at the University of Split contributes to the implementation of a number of strategic documents and legal regulations at the level of the EU and the Republic of Croatia, namely: European Green Plan, Building a Climate Resilient Europe, Strategy "from field to table" for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system, Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Republic of Croatia for the period until 2040 with a view to 2070, Croatian law on Agriculture, Croatian Agricultural Strategy until 2030 and the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy of the Republic of Croatia 2023 - 2027. Agriculture is an important economic sector and one of the basic activities for life in the rural areas of the Republic of Croatia. Since the development of agriculture as an important economic sector depends to a large extent on the experience gained, trends and the latest scientific knowledge and technologies, the University Study Programme Mediterranean Agriculture will play a significant role in improving agricultural production.
