Field and Laboratory Activities on Dog Rose Research within the NU3MED Project

As part of the institutional NU3MED project, field and laboratory activities focused on the study of dog rose (Rosa canina L.) were carried out during May and June 2026. Members of work packages WP1 and WP2, together with students of the Faculty of Mediterranean Agriculture, participated in these activities.

Within WP1 - Ecogeographical Survey and Sample Collection, samples of one-year-old shoots, leaves, and flowers of dog rose were collected from ten locations, providing a representative basis for further research.

Following the completion of the field activities, the collected plant material was processed within WP2 - Description and Evaluation of Selected Plant Species in the laboratories of the Faculty of Mediterranean Agriculture, where morphological analyses were conducted using standardized methodologies. The aim of these analyses was to determine the morphological variability of the studied material and to provide a scientific basis for further research within the project.

These activities once again highlight the importance of integrating field research and laboratory analyses, as well as actively involving students in scientific research. Such an approach contributes to the development of research competencies, the strengthening of practical knowledge, and the achievement of the objectives of the NU3MED project.
